Birdhouses

I have wanted a birdhouse since we moved into our house two years ago. I always look at them but I never want to pay that much for a birdhouse. My daughter loves birds she sits in the window and watches the birds in the birdbath all the time. I told her today we were going to make a birdhouse, she was so excited. This is a very simple birdhouse that teaches the importance to recycling and also explores nature.

Getting Started:
Recycled Milk, Orange Juice, or Cream Container
Craft Sticks
Hot Glue & Hot Glue Gun *
Paint
Paint Brush
Puffy Paint
Sealer *
Exacto Knife *
String

*Please note that an adult should assemble the birdhouse. Care should be taken when using hot glue and the Exacto Knife because serious injury can occur.

The empty cream container wash and rinsed (saved from the recycling bin.)

Two Craft Sticks being used as beams for the shingles.

One half of the roof done.

Front View: I added a little perch for the birds.

Now to have my little helper paint her blue bird house.

Once the paint has dried cut a door way into the house using an exacto knife. Decorate with Puffy Paint (we put Bird House on the sides, flowers on the front and back, and happy faces on the roof.) Once the Puffy Paint has dried seal with a non-toxic sealant. Once the sealant has dried put a string through the top and hang outside (you may want to put birdseed on the inside to lure the birds.)
